A common problem in Singapore, ants have been known to build nests in homes during the monsoon season. They find and swarm uncovered food and sweets quickly, and some species are known to bite. Ant infestations are often hard to track and get rid of, and can require specialised help to stop.
The pharaoh ant is a small yellow or light brown, almost transparent ant notorious for being a major indoor nuisance pest.It is very small. Approximately 1.3mm to 2.22 mm long.

Black Garden Ants
The Black Garden Ant workers are 4-6 mm long, wingless and black or dark brown. They are usually found in large numbers, either around their nests in the soil or following each other along their scent trails across the ground and paved areas, over walls and into buildings.
Does Black Garden Ants bite? These ants rarely bite humans, and their bites aren't harmful. You may feel a burning sensation after a bite, but it should go away after a short time.
Carpenter Ants, vary in size and color but are usually large (1/4-1/2 inch) and blackish. Occasionally, swarms of winged carpenter ant reproductives will emerge inside a home.
Within a house, carpenter ants feed on proteins such as meats and pet food. As far as sugars in the house, they are attracted to syrup, honey, granulated sugar, jelly, and other sweets. As stated before, carpenter ants do not eat wood. They remove wood as they create galleries and tunnels for nesting.
